May 31, 1889, saw one of the worst floods in history, refered to as 'The Johnstown Flood'.
The disaster in Johnstown, Pennsylvania was actually caused by a dam that gave way and killed more than 2,000 people.

Hostory will never forget January 13, 1939. Still known as the worst natural fires that ever occurred, wild fires broke out in Australia.  Almost 5 million acres were set ablaze and 72 people lost their lives. For decades after the fires were extinguished, and the aftermath of this particular fire was devastating.
